May Fishing

May brings a true beginning to our main fishing seasons. Many options for Salmon, Sturgeon, and Halibut. Fishing Oregon and Alaska. Going non stop until the rains in the fall give us our next Break/Vacation which is normally spent watching Ashley run in the State x-country meet and getting the drift boat ready as the rivers fall into shape.

For now I'll give you an update on the month of May and June.

Spring Salmon: We will have two opportunities for Springers here on the coast. First as the month progresses we will see more and more Springers move into the Tillamook Bay system. These fish can be larger then the ones we see on the Columbia and they provide on the right days great action.

Springers on the lower Columbia are expected to reopen May 16th. I doubt an earlier opening by the state is in the works. While most understand the main run is past we all know there are alot of great salmon coming by in may and can provide good fishing.

Sturgeon: We are getting jazzed for the opener May 12th. From then until July 4th the season will be open for keepers 45" - 60". Fishing reports and trips we have taken for Catch & Release so far show good numbers of fish in the area. We expect fishing to be good with most days producing limits.

We just completed two clinics and Joe's in Beaverton that were a success and also just recieved our copy of the May 10th Hunting and Fishing News with Jon my son on the cover with a client and some great 60" Sturgeon. We also have alot of things information in that article so check it out.

We will be fishing two trips a day beginning Memorial Day. With our past clients rebooking, new business from the many clinics we are doing and the article's/radio reports we are busy. We do have some room and also book two other solid area guides. Call us or email us with the number in your group and dates that might work for you. Gotta get in on this fishery.
