Just a couple of Fishing items

Over the past few weeks I have been fishing a new to me Flasher. Dee's Diamond Flashers, they come in three sizes and all the proper colors. They are also built very well. Quality tape, solid flashers and Stainless ballbearing swivels and snaps.

I was pleased with the flash, spin and weight of these flashers. The added weight compared to most other spin flashers helps from line twist when letting the flasher and bait out to quickly. Now all falshers will twist and foul if let out to fast but it was a point we tested may times and found less issues with the Diamond Flashers.

The color Selection are tradional Northwest and offer what you need in any light and water condition. The only colors that is missing for me is a gold and Blue and I will beg a few of those be added for the future.

You can find these at most retailers and if your favorite store does not have them then I suggest you ask them to get some. Here in the Northwest have them ask their All Sports folks to get them.

Other fishing items again are bait cure. Pautzke's will soon be introducing a borax based egg cure to go along with their Fire Cure which is a high quality cure that I can tell you catches FISH. We are excited to see this new cure in the coming months. Do not forget the Pautzke's egg nectar is a great product for your eggs and for adding color and scent to all your bait. Many of you know I use the green Pautzke's to give my herring, anchovies and Sardine's a great Chartuse color.

Quantum Blue runner Reels are a great reel without killing your ability to put fuel in the boat. As we know everything is getting expensive to just go out fishing. But with the Blue Runner Series of Reels and the Coldwater Series of Rod's I can have several sets without breaking the bank. Now performance is still the key you cannot have a reel sieze up on you just because you wanted to save money.

this reel has a great tough drag system that you do not have to doctor up as you do with the Penn's and Diawa's of the same price point. The line counter reel is my choice when fishing for Chinooks in the salt both in Oregon and Alaska and for Sturgeon on the lower Columbia River.

Sturgeon Leaders are normally tied on an 80lb+ dacron leader. Has always worked and always will. However for you fishermen who use shrimp and anchovies or other fragile baits I suggest you go to Sufix Braid in 65lb+ I use it because it is small, smooth and tough. It make a very small hole in you baits allowing them to stay on better. You lose nothing in strength.

We are also in the process of respooling all our Sturgeon reels' Quantum Blue Runners to Hi Vis Braid from Sufix and High Vis Mono also from Sufix. We are excited to be making this switch as we tested some of the lines in the past. These lines can be found at your local sportings goods outlet and again request what you want if they do not have it.

Sturgeon keeper season open this coming May 12th, we are running two trips Daily begining May 20th. The fishing will continue for keepers until July 4th or until the Quota is reached then we will be booking Catch & Release for two boats in July.
